Several makeup brands also bring in new lines so that the star crazed fans can get the look their favorite actor sported in their most recent success – whether a movie, a show or a film festival.
Today, we bring you a range of budget makeup products for you to carry off both a day and night look ,effortlessly. If you’re a beginner to makeup, this list will sure help you.
You’ll need the basics of any celebrity makeup artist’s collection:
Foundation
Concealer
Pressed/loose powder
Eyeshadow
Kohl
Highlighter
Lip color
Foundation:
Foundation forms the base of your makeup and covers any minor imperfections and pigmentation. You could opt for a medium- heavy coverage one if your skin has a lot of blemishes or choose on that goes on sheer if your skin is quite clear.
Medium coverage foundations ( these can be layered for a fuller coverage) – Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse (Rs. 575), Revlon Colorstay (Rs. 850).
Light/Sheer coverage foundations – Neutrogena Healthy Skin ( Rs. 720) , Lakme Absolute Mattreal mousse (Rs. 620)
Concealer:
Choose a concealer that is one or two tones lighter than your skin tone, a concealer that has a very cool tone may wash you out and look ashy, especially on deeper complexions.
Budget concealers – Revlon Photoready concealer (Rs. 850/ available in a stick form) , Lakme face stylist Absolute face concealer (Rs. 900/ pricey considering the brand), Kryolan Derma Color Camouflage Creme (Rs. 350 / Rs. 1000 for a bigger tub)
I’ve used all three and can safely say that Kryolan is the best amongst these. Not only will you find a perfect shade for your skin tone (their color choice is huge) ; it also blends in seamlessly with your skin and can also be mixed with a little BB cream and used instead of a foundation – the finish is almost flawless! Technically. Kryolan isn’t a budget brand but their concealer is quite afforable and works perfectly.
Powder :
This step is necessary to set your base makeup in place, it also covers the spots that get oily over a period of time.
Lakme Perfect Finish Compact (Rs. 115) is great for its price and wear-time. The shade Shell will suit medium- deep skin tones, Pearl and Marble are for paler skin tones.
Maybelline Whitestay UV Compact (Rs. 150) comes with UV protection and a flawless, glowing finish.
Eyeshadows :
A few good eyeshadows that go well with desi tones are:
For the day – Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hour eyeshadows, Lakme Eyeshadow quad in Chai Latte, Colorbar singles in Expensive Pink and Spicy Brown
For a more dramatic look / for the night – Loreal Infallible Eyeshadow in burning black, Lakme color quad in Tanjore Rush, Coastal scents revealed palette 2 (also a dupe of urban decay’s naked 2 palette)
For highlighters – Ben Nye Luxury powders ( in shade Banana/ Coco Tan) , Revlon Age defying spa illuminator
Kohl:
Most desi women already have their favorite kaajal or kohl and stay loyal to it. If you’re looking for a decent budget option for kohl make your pick from Lakme Eyeconic, Loreal Magique and Maybelline Collosal. Though all three come with a somewhat simliar consistency, Colossal has the deepest black.
Lip Color :
When it comes to the lips, there is no one brand that can be mentioned here. Desi skin was made for lipsticks! There are a whole lot of options and color choices to pick from. Here are some suggestions:
For budget lipsticks – Lakme 9-5 range (Rs.400), Lakme Satin Enriched lipsticks ( Rs. 270), Maybelline Velvet matte (Rs. 295), Lakme Absolute (Rs.500)
You could use a clear gloss over a matte lipstick to hydrate it and dab a powdered tissue on a creamy, glossy lipstick to create a mattifying effect.
