Are you finding it difficult to workout during your busy schedule around the kids? The good news is, you only need 20-30 minutes a day of activity to keep your heart healthy. And these minutes don’t have to be consecutive. You can workout for 5 minutes and then resume another 10 later and add on another 5 minutes between chores and then finish with 5 minutes before bed!
The main thing you DO need to focus on is giving it your 100%! Here is a simple routine you can do daily if you find yourself too busy to dedicate a consecutive 30 minutes.
Skipping
10 Minutes of Skipping is equivalent to 30 minutes on the treadmill!! YES. And you don’t even need a skipping rope! Just jump in one spot and change up your tempo and speed. Make sure your heart is racing at the end of 10 minutes.
Pushups
Pushups can be done ANYWHERE!! You don’t need any equipment and you don’t need any special clothing. Try doing as many pushups as possible in 5 minutes. Take breaks if you must or gradually move into beginner moves (from the knee’s) if you become too tired.
Squats
Another exercise that can be done WITH or WITHOUT weights. Bodyweight squats are a great way to lean out your legs and raise your heart rate by increasing the tempo. Add a jump in there and now you are really getting a good cardiovascular workout!! If you have weights handy, add them in and do Plie Squats.
Crunches
There are many variations to crunches. Laying flat on your back, knee’s in table top position, bicycle twists, leg raises etc. Pick one and do 100 reps of each variation and do this for 5 minutes. Your heart and stomach will thank you later!
