Designer Spotlight : Balmain
If you haven’t heard of Olivier Rousteing, it’s about time you get familiar with the young designer who was just appointed to design and develop Balmain’s men’s and women’s ready to wear collections. With Roberto Cavalli already on his resume, this young and talented designer is extremely imaginative and creative.
With Rihanna as their new brand ambassador, this designer is headed in the right direction. Their edgy yet luxurious appeal is catching every blogger and fashionista’s attention. Definitely on a higher price point, their unique and distinct pieces are clever investments.
I don’t know what I love more, the exclusive and intricate prints or use of heavily encrusted and sequenced evening wear. In attempts to revamp the image of the powerhouse, Olivier is trying to part ways from the traditional look of Balmain and is branching out into this disco style that he naturally exhibits. He is attempting to bring the freedom of ethnicity back into his designs and is doing so with quilted leather, draping, and heavy beadwork.
These pictures unveil the actual brilliance and richness of this brand. Definitely revolutionary and so imaginative that it appears as though Olivier’s aptitude is never ending. I personally am very excited to see where he takes the House of Balmain. Keep your eyes peeled for future collections and innovations.
