My Must Have Makeup Brushes

When you love makeup as much as I do, it’s inevitable to have an obsession with makeup brushes.  Having good quality brushes, not only allows your makeup application to be 100x better to me even looking at them makes me love makeup so much more.  Here is a list of my current favorite makeup brushes that I can’t live without.

Eyebrows:

#208 MAC

I loved MAC’s #208 eyebrow brush from when I first started doing makeup.  Its bristles are the perfect shape to create the perfect eyebrow whether it be natural or defined.  I really like how the bristles are a soft but firm allowing easy application of power or cream.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Brush

Recently I also started using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Brush.  She is the Queen of brows so anything she makes for the brows ends up being awesome.  This is a reallly good brush for the brows.  The angle, application and semi-firmness of the brush are perfect for the brows using powder or cream.  I also like how it has a spooli on the back end making it quick to finish up coming and smoothing out the brows.

Blush

MAC #129

I’ve tried many brushes in my life, and for me nothing compares to Mac’s #129 blush brush. You can never go wrong with your application with this brush. It’s soft and the perfect shape to create the most natural looking blush.  Need to own a couple of these!  Seriously!

Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush

When I want the blush to be a bit stronger I love using Sigma’s Flat Kabuki brush to apply blush.  Instead of sweeping it, I just pat it on along the cheekbones. Then I use the #129 to blend it out if need be.

Eyeliner

Makeup Forever Bent Eyeliner brush#260

This brush is AH-MAZING!!  Makeup Forever’s Bent Eyeliner brush #260 is the best eyeliner brush I’ve used so far.  It’s short, not too hard or soft making it easy to move along the lash line while still providing a good color application. Best part of all about this brush is the precision, the handling of the brush is so good!  I love how its bent so it makes it easy to hold to apply your eyeliner compared to a typical straight eyeliner brush.  Try it out at the store, highly recommended.  Works well with gel, liquid or even powder eyeliner.

Lips

Sigma

I love how this brush has a point on the end. It helps to create shape and give a perfect color to the lip without going over the lip lines.  It picks up the color well and distributes it evenly. I also really like how its not to fat. It is labelled as an eyeliner brush but its too thick to be one!

Eyeshadow

Blending

MAC #217

If you haven’t heard of Mac’s #217 brush, you’ve been missing something.  The absolutely best brush to blend eyeshadow with. Soft hair, perfect length and shape.  I own like 10 of these, its really really good.

Application

MAC #239

I love to apply eyeshadow with Mac’s #239 brush.  You don’t have to dig into your shadow, it picks up the color very well and application is perfect.

Smudging

Makeup Forever #204

Smudging with this brush is a whole new level.  Its perfect to use on both top and bottom of the eye.  I like using the brush tip more then the sponge tip but both give a good effect.

Contour

Makeup Forever Large Fan Brush (old collection)

Contouring with this brush is so easy.  Its a large and fluffy Fan brush which gives a beautiful angle to your cheekbones but at the same time blends it while your applying it!

Concealer

MAC #195

I love how Mac’s #195 concealer brush has an pointed tip. Helps to get into corners and works very well with cream highlighting.  Love using it under the eyes, bridge of the nose and around the lips.  Best concealer brush I’ve used!

Foundation

MAC #189

Mac’s #189 brush is like airbrushing the skin when you apply foundation.  Its so easy to use, blends the foundation so easy you don’t even have to really think about what your doing, it’s that easy.  I like applying foundation with this brush and then blending out with a beauty blender.
