8 MAC Summer Lipsticks for Desis – Swatches & Review

Summer is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to experiment and add some color to your lip life.  Summer is all about colors, whether it’s hot or bold it’s  all “in” this season.

I put together a list of fun lipsticks from MAC that will look particularly good during the hot months.  For me, summer is a time to pull out those hot pinks and corals! And I also wanted to share some colors for those looking for something different to wear as compared to the usual Please Me and Ruby Woo.

Vegas Volt (Amplified)

Vegas Volt is described as a “full power coral”  it’s a creamy, fully pigmented lipstick that looks great on light to deeper desi skin tones.  That’s the beauty of this coral, it’s that perfect pop of color.

Ravishing (Creamsheen)

Whenever girls ask me “which is the best peach lipstick from MAC ?” – I always name Ravishing.  It is a “clean light peachy coral” and is a beautiful shade. For me, it is  the only peach tone lippie I like from MAC for desi skin tones.  Its creamy but light and looks really natural on – like a tint of peach on the lips.  Great for the summer or even all year round!

MOrange (Amplified)

MOrange is a bright tone of orange.  It’s a “Loudmouth orange” – on very light skin it looks very bright but on desi skin tones it looks great! It’s a pop of orange that doesn’t look tacky or OTT but actually comes off as sexy and bold.  I love wearing this lipstick, it gives me a boost of confidence as if I’m wearing a classic red.

Relentlessly Red (matte)

I wanted to recommend a different red than the classic Ruby Woo and Russian Red (those are both always beautiful choices all year round) – I recently picked up Relentlessly Red from MAC’s retro matte collection and I LOVED it! It’s not a red per se but its more of a bright pinkish coral matte and looks stunning on! It reminds me of a pinky-coral version of Ruby Woo.  It’s a statement and a color many of us desis will love.  Check it out!

Candy Yum Yum (matte)

Candy Yum Yum is a neon pink.  It’s bright! Without a tan or a bit of bronzer it can look a bit “barbie” but I love tanned skin and I love how this color looks with a tan.  I get tons of compliments whenever I wear this lipstick so I had to include it on this list.  It can work on all tones of desi skin but I prefer it on lighter skin types more.

Pink Pigeon (matte)

Pink Pigeon is a gorgeousssss pink for desi skintone.  Its a cool tone hot pink that blends in beautifully. It’s similar to Candy Yum Yum but slightly deeper and without the “barbieness”.  I love that it pops but doesn’t look misplaced on the lips, just blends well with our skin and looks like perfection…like it was meant to be!

Viva Glam Miley Cyrus

OMG if you haven’t seen Viva Glam Miley Cyrus you are missing something in your life.  Viva Glam Miley is the latest addition to the Viva Glam family which was just recently launched.  I’m not sure if it’s limited edition like the Rihanna Viva Glam but this lipstick is a must.  It’s a very unique shade of hot pink that has this gorgeous shine to it.  It’s super, super sexy.

Saint Germain

Saint Germain is a clean pastel pink.  It’s something different to wear and can work on all tones of desi skin but you just need to know how to wear it.  For lighter skin desis wear it directly from the tube and pair it with a pink blush on the apples of the cheeks, some bronzer along the cheek bones and face.  It’s very pretty, and something different. For deeper desi skin tones apply it with your finger and rub in the color to wear it like a stain.  Looks great either way!
