Actress and ex beauty queen Dia Mirza and film maker Sahil Sangha got married in a private ceremony on 18 October, Saturday 2014.
The wedding festivities took place in New Delhi at a farmhouse. The mehendi ceremony was also organised in Delhi. Dia wore a yellow dress and according to the designer “The kurta has a vintage cut used in the courts of Agra around the 15th century. The neck is deep and worked in embroidered gota patti on net like the technique used at the time. Each panel is highlighted with a flowering buta. The odhni is fuschia worked with small butis of the same beaten gold gota patti, a fuschia brocade deep sinjaf finishes the edges of the outfit.”
The entire place was bedecked with sweet smelling Rajnigandha flowers, which are Dia’s favorite for the Sangeet. Dia wore a purple and gold lehenga designed by Anita Dongre and Sahil wore a bandhgala coat.
Dia Mirza looked every inch a resplendent bride on the wedding day, wearing a Ritu Kumar designed emerald green and golden farshi Paijama and Mughal jewelry to complete the look.
Sahil wore a Raghavendra Rathore sherwani in white, which happens to be Dia Mirza’s favorite color.
The wedding décor was done using white orchids and lilies. Sophie Chaudhary, Lara Dutta were some among the many close friends present. The couple solemnized their wedding by Arya Samaj rites. Actor Boman Irani of Bollywood movie Munnabhai MBBS fame has reportedly done the Kanyadaan for Dia Mirza. The food served was a combination of Mughlai and continental, with the kebabs served as starters. There was a section dedicated to bengali sweets since Dias mother is a bengali.
The wedding reception on 0ctober 19 saw Dia wear a peach colored lehenga designed by Shantanu & Nikhil and co -ordinated décor using Chandeliers and flowers.
