Desi Foods to Cut out of Your Diet

If you grew up desi, chances are, your comfort foods will be desi inspired! Wherever you grew up, your parents tasty trends may be killing your fitness goals. Here are the top foods that you MUST cut out to get on track with your health.

1: Pakoras

You know what I’m talking about. Those tasty deep-fried little balls that every household has occasionally.. or often!! 😉

2: Butter Chicken

Cream and Butter will help you store MORE fat rather than lose it. Cut this out completely.

3: Karhai Gosht/Chicken

Karhai is the desi version of a Wok where meat is cooked and oil is one of the top ingredients. Cut this out completely from your diet.

4: Parathas

5: Halwa

Although this can be considered a sweet dish, this is also a breakfast item. Because it is high in sugar, it is out of the question to have when trying to lose weight.

2: Channa Masala (although calculate the calories from carb/protein and skip the rice and roti)

3: Kheema (cooked with very little oil)

4: Roti (made from whole wheat or chickpea flour or coconut flour)

5: Lentils (on its own, without rice or roti)
