The Weirdest Hair Trends Of 2015

Hair plays such a crucial role when you’re looking to make a statement; 2015 was the year where dull and demure took backseat as celebs and the internet gave rise to the weirdest hair trends ever! Here’s a gist :

The Clip-On Man Bun –

Okay really, WHAT were they thinking ?!! I agree long hair and buns look great on some men, cue Game Of Thrones characters for instance, but there’s something very awkward and wrong with the planet when the clip-on man-buns caught our frenzy ! No prizes for guessing the huge memes that were created after this.

Glitter Hair Roots :

This one gained momentum in the second half of 2015 and I have a sneaky suspicion that this had something to do with the glitter beard for men trend (which is another weird trend IMO).

I’ve always wondered if glitter could ever be a bad thing and I guess this answers my question. Glitter on your hair roots ? There’s so many ways that could go wrong ranging from a scalp infection to something more serious. Let’s put it this way, the scalp damage and ensuing hairfall are going to be anything but pretty.

Flash Tattoos for Hair :

I’m on the fence about this one. I love flash tattoos and I can’t deny that they’re really pretty and versatile but then again, wearing them on your hair is another story entirely. This trend has been worn by the likes of Kylie Jenner (whatever she does becomes a trend anyway :P) and complements the beach boho look. While not really as weird as some of the other trends on this list, I’m not sure I’d like to try this one. What about you guys ?

Platinum Grey Hair Color / Dyeing Your Hair White Or Grey :

It started on Pinterest a few months ago and hasn’t stopped ever since. Young girls and teens all over suddenly started coloring their hair platinum and grey after a few pinterest boards deemed it all the rage. Ariana Grande went the white way too in a recent video, I remember Rihanna wearing this look as well. Personally, i think this trend looks really hot on some girls. It’s quite fun, and experimental if you’re up for it.

I wonder what our desi moms obsessed with henna and dyeing their hair black (to hide greying) will make of this trend!

Rainbow Roots :

This is like an inverted ombre where the roots are colored in bright neon shades and the rest of the hair is left as it is. This look is quite popular on runways and in high-street fashion. What do you think of this look ?

All in all, I’d say 2015 has been quite a year for new and experimental trends. Which of these will last and which ones will fade away? I guess we’ll have to wait to find out the answers!
