Fall is coming up and I’m excited! After a long and hot summer, cooler temperatures are definitely welcome, plus, wedding season in Pakistan kicks off and keeps me very busy – both personally and professionally. Let me brief you guys about the fall/winter hair trends so you know how to keep chic this winter.
The hottest trend of 2014 has been the long bob or, as some call it, the lob’ – and this trend is getting carried into the upcoming season as well. It’s a low-fuss bob and women love it because of its versatile nature and because it is flattering for most face cuts. Another popular trend is long hair with bangs swept to the side, similar to the style Reese Witherspoon has been sporting recently.
Side parts are on their way to becoming the hottest trend for fall. The low side parting was very popular at international fashion weeks. The wild, untamed look is being replaced with sleek and polished locks parted in the middle or into a tight pony tail. On the other hand, The 60’s, retro Jackie O look has also made a major comeback on the runways, with mad volume and lots of backcombing. Try the products from the label.m Thickening range for this look.
With regards to color, a lot of celebrities are toning it down a few notches. Ombres are being muted to discreet flows. You can mix and match bright highlights with lowlights.
For the men, the top trends for fall/winter are short at the back and longer in the front, combed across the forehead. The side parting trend is quite hot and popular at the moment and will remain for a while longer. To add that needed bit of a modern twist, you can add exaggerated volume on one side. Gelled-back hair will also give a classic, cool touch! Label.m’s Soft Wax is a great product to try out, and of course, the hair hero Matt Paste never fails to get the look you’re going for. For guys with longer hair, stay away from the blow dryer this season. Let it air dry, it’s healthier for hair as well. Then, you can comb your hair close to the scalp and sweep it behind the ears like the look Jared Leto has been wearing these days. If that is not your cup of tea, go for the tousled look. If you want to tie it back in a ponytail, sport a light beard with it.
