Lakme Absolute Sculpt Studio Hi – Definition Matte Lipstick Review – Plum Spell

Since long gone, Lakme has been a trustworthy and affordable brand in India offering good products at neat prices to a huge section of the market. Matte lipsticks have taken the world by storm in the first half of 2015, with most makeup artists, ramp shows and designers featuring minimal eye makeup and bold, matte lips as part of their collection.

There’s no denying that matte lipsticks are the easiest way to glam up your look, especially in this age of contouring and strobing. They help you define, outline and fill in your lips for a fuller, more enhanced and richer pout.

Lakme claims that one stroke of contoured perfection is all you need to get a chiseled, long wear experience with a rich matte finish. Available in 15 dramatic shades (the brightest shades so far in the Absolute range), Lakmé Absolute Sculpt Studio Hi-Definition Matte Lipstick is your go-to professional product that provides nothing less than an expert finish.

Price – Rs. 700 INR

Packaging

Lakme studio sculpt absolute packaging comes with a clear plastic cap and silver body packaging. I’m not very fond of the cap, I think it could be prone to breakage. I prefered the rose gold packaging of the 9 to 5 lipsticks and the silver packaging of the absolute range better.

Shade range

Lakme claims that this matte collection has the brightest range of colors introduced by them ever ! That should be at least one reason to try the collection.

Plum spell is the third swatch 🙂 Notice the superior pigmentation and incredible color payoff !

Being the huge fan of lipsticks that I am, I was determined to try out this new range of matte lipsticks from Lakme. Brand Ambassador Kareena Kapoor Khan looks stunning in the ad campaign and I couldn’t help but notice how full her lips looked in the print ad as well (graphics may be involved but who’s to say ). All said and done, I finally found myself picking up one of these babies and here’s what my experience with the lipstick has been like!

I bought Plum Spell , a gorgeous pink-based Red with a huge resemblance to Red Rush , but brighter. In fact, I couldn’t help but notice that most of the shades in the range were mostly reds and pinks. Plum Spell, isn’t really plum under any lighting. It is a bright, almost show-stealing pink-red that will guarantee compliments and will flatter your features.

Incidentally, this is also the same shade that Kareena wears in the print campaign for Lakme sculpt. Though my skin is many shades darker than Kareena’s, who is lighter than most desi women, I see this shade being very wearable even for us medium-toned women.

The lipstick does fade after a few hours, but it leaves behind a nice stain. It isn’t waterproof, and can be drying as well. Do moisturise your lips, as you must with any matte.

The color Plum Spell is very flattering on yellow-ish skin undertones and will look great on most women. It is a nice, face-brightening red and is a different red to own for women who are fond of a bright lip color. If you like Relentlessly Red, Diva and All Fired Up, you’ll love this very affordable color that looks like a mix of those three.

I find that using a slightly bright concealer in the area around my lips makes this color really POP on my skin tone.

Some other recommended colors from the Studio Sculpt Hi – Definition Matte Range are Pink Caress , Peach Pout and Red Rush.
