Note – These recipes are tailored to suit desi palettes.
Creamy Pureed Green Peas Soup
This soup is a favorite with kids due to its rich, creamy consistency and subtle flavor. Serve with a zesty salad or bread of your choice!
Category : Vegetarian
Flavor – Creamy , herby
Ingredients –
Frozen green peas ( around a cupful per serving )
Ginger paste
Garlic paste
Oil (olive oil preferred)
4 tbsps of fresh cream
Cumin seeds
Lemon juice
Turmeric and garam masala
Black pepper
Dried oregano and basil leaves to garnish
Method –
Grind your peas along with a little water in the grinder.
Heat a little oil in a pan and add some ginger paste and garlic paste and fry it, taking care not to let them burn. Add the peas to this mixture and let it cook for awhile till the peas have lost their rawness.
Make sure the mix is stirred often so that it doesn’t stick to the pan or is burnt.
In a separate pan , heat oil and fry the cumin seeds with a little turmeric, garam masala and salt. Add some water and wait for it to come to a boil.
Once it starts boiling, add the peas and cream to this and let it simmer for a while till the pea mixture is completely cooked.
Garnish with oregano and basil and a dollop of butter if you’re feeling generous.
Serve warm and watch the smiles grow wide 🙂
