Productivity is usually associated to the amount of useful work done, targets accomplished and goals achieved. But in this world of distractions, where a million things are competing for each second of your attention, the focus span is reducing. Whether you are a house wife, a working women or a full time toddler mom getting some actual work done during the day is increasingly becoming a battle against time for all of us.
Here are some workable tips to help you get the most out of your day.
1. Plan ahead: The best way to start a day is with a clear mindset and a list of the five major tasks you need to get done during the day. You can do this planning either the night before or during the early morning hours before starting your day.
2.Visualize: A lot of research is being done on the powerful effect of positive affirmations and visualizing your successes in advance.
3. Add some ME Time: No we are not asking you to join a yoga class or start meditating. What we mean here, is to take some time during the day if possible in the evenings or early morning hours to connect with yourself and your thoughts.
4. Tick the big one off early: We usually have one big task to finish each day but we tend to run away from it throughout the day postponing it every time to be finished later and it keeps hanging like a sword on our head making it difficult to achieve other smaller tasks as well. The best idea is to get it done with first thing in the morning when you are most focussed and energetic.
5. The right food: Because you can’t be jumping with enthusiasm if you are down and low in energy. Productivity isall about maintaining a continuous flow of energy throughout the day which is only possible with the right diet. Make sure to eat a balanced meal including carbs, protein and fibre and yes plenty of fluids to keep the energy juices flowing.
6.Break time: Most people associate taking breaks with wasting time, chit chatting, watching TV or playing frivolous games but that’s not usually the case. Regular breaks are important to give you that necessary time to relax and rejuvenate. It is also a time to take stock of things, reflect on your day’s progress and make changes if required.
7.Connect socially and spend quality time with your close ones: A positive conversation, a small walk, a game of tennis or just some moments sharing a cup of tea with your close ones can have a positive effect on your mood and mental health and can boost your spirits to tackle problems with ease.
