The Lakme Fashion Week which started in 1999, is held twice every year; once in February under the title of Summer Resort, and for the second time in August known as Winter Festive. The sponsor for the fashion week, as is obvious by the title, is the cosmetic and beauty giant Lakme which every year pulls in the biggest names in Bollywood and internationally as well to walk the ramp and show case their designs.

For the on-going Lakme Fashion Week, designer extraordinaire Manish Malhotra has been named as the Grand Finale Designer. He will join forces with Lakme make-up expert Cory Walia and create the Lakme Absolute Bridal Dream Team.

“This is my fourth finale at LFW and I am as thrilled as I was the first time. This platform is one of the biggest celebrations of fashion that brings forth the best in design, beauty, fashion and Bollywood making it every designer’s dream showcase. This season, I will be showcasing Lakme Absolute’s bridal trousseau and I look forward to re-inventing my style inspired by Lakme Absolute,” Malhotra said in a statement.

Malhotras long standing association with Kareena Kapoor has bagged her the role of the show-stopper at the grand finale of this extravagant event. She will showcase yet another global runway trend that is big this season- The Gloss Look, crafted by the Lakme Bridal Dream Team. “I have always loved working with Kareena. She is the perfect combination of a gorgeous face and a confident personality. Every season, LFW has a trend story to tell and the finale accentuates the trend in the most elaborate manner, I’m looking forward to crafting a special look for Kareena with my latest collection which is inspired by the Gloss look; a trend that is creating waves internationally and is being spotted on runways around the globe,” he added.
